Frequently asked questions
About Leeny
What is Leeny?
Leeny is an app for borrowing clothes from, and lending them to, people you know, such as friends, family or housemates. You do this in private groups, with everything clearly in one place: what's in the closet, who's borrowing what and when it comes back.
What does Leeny cost?
Borrowing, reserving and chatting are free, and they'll stay that way. Later there will be Leeny Plus, an optional subscription with extras, such as unlimited items and groups. During the beta, everything is free.
Which phones does Leeny work on?
Leeny is coming to iPhone first (iOS 26 or later). An Android version will follow later.
How can I join?
Leeny is now in beta. Email hallo@leeny.app with your name and who you'd like to borrow with, and we'll send you an invitation to the beta version.
How old do I need to be to use Leeny?
16 or older.
Groups
What is a group?
A private space for, say, your friends, your student house or your family. Only members see each other's items and can borrow them. You can be in several groups at once.
How do I join a group?
With an invite from someone in the group: a link, a QR code or an eight-character code. You first see which group it is, and only then do you join.
Who decides the agreements in a group?
The owner of the group. They choose whether requests need approval first or are confirmed straight away, how long you can borrow something for, and which agreements apply, for example about washing.
Borrowing
How do I borrow something?
Choose an item, pick the days you need it and send a request. The owner confirms in the chat, and then you agree on when to pick it up. Leeny reminds you both about picking up and bringing back.
What if the owner doesn't reply?
A request expires after three days without a reply, or once the start date has passed. You can then send a new request or choose something else.
What if something gets damaged or lost?
You agree on damage or replacement together. Leeny isn't a party to the borrowing and doesn't insure anything. If you can't sort it out together, or someone doesn't behave properly, you can report or block them in the app.
Can I charge money for lending?
No. Leeny is for borrowing between people who know each other, not for selling or renting.
Privacy and safety
Who can see my clothes?
Only the members of the groups you share an item with. Your clothes and your profile are never public.
What happens to my data?
We only use what's needed to make Leeny work. Your data stays in the EU, we don't sell anything and we don't show ads. You can download your data and delete your account in the app. Read more in the privacy policy.
How do I report or block someone?
Open the conversation and tap the other person's profile picture at the top right. There you choose Report or Block. To report an item, tap More on the item. We review reports within 24 hours.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, via Profile, Account, Delete account. The Delete account page explains what then happens to your data.
Can't find your question? Email hallo@leeny.app. You can read more about your data in the privacy policy, and what happens if you leave on delete account.
